It is very important to provide clean, fresh water for the hedgehogs. They should not be given cows' milk as they cannot digest it very well, and drinking it could well lead to diarrhoea. The picture shows a mother Hog and various aged siblings. The one in the bottom left is enjoying the fresh water.

 

If ever I have been late in putting out the peanuts the 'hogs' are usually to be found gathering at the front door, 'waiting' for dinner. Although they are still independant, and will forage for a great distance, they do like their nightly 'treat' of peanuts and, of course, fresh water.
